The division
Small garments are not scaled-down big ones.
A dedicated kids' pattern room knows how a three-year-old's shoulder moves, why a neckline has to clear a head without a fastening, and how many washes a school polo has to survive before a parent complains.
Safety is designed in from the sketch rather than checked at the end. A detail that should not be on a child's garment never leaves the studio.

Kidswear2–14 years
Jersey tops, dresses, shirting, trousers, shorts, sweats and light knits.
Schoolwear3–14 years
Polos, pinafores, trousers, skirts and cardigans built to survive a hundred washes.
Outerwear0–14 years
Padded jackets, softshells, raincoats and gilets, with warm fills and water-repellent finishes.
Safety
Designed in at the sketch, not inspected in at the end.
Fabric
Soft on day one, still there in year two.
Children's fabric has two jobs pulling in opposite directions: it has to feel gentle when it is unwrapped, and it has to survive a great many hot washes.
So we wash our fabrics before we approve them, and look at what comes out.
